Applying for Long Term Scholarship
How Do You Apply?
Most High Schools have a guidance counselor on the staff who can put you in contact with a Rotary Club in your area. Alternatively, you can go to the Rotary International website and use the "Club Locator" button to find a Rotary Club near you. (Rotary District 6630 includes the following Northeast Ohio counties: Ashtabula, Medina (except Rittman), Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Portage and Summit, and only North Ridgeville in Lorain County).
If you have trouble with that, we may also be able to help match you with a sponsoring Rotary Club as soon as you open your secure application account, fill in your identification fields, and hit the Submit button. After doing so, you will also be on the District's mailing list for the latest available information regarding the foreign study scholarship programs in this District.
Application Forms
The application process is a secure online web application. At a later date and as part of the online process, you will be asked to choose and prioritize your prospective country choices. Next year's country choices have not been finalized, but, if you download the country form on the left margin, it will give you an idea of what countries we have been exchanging with prior to the pandemic. You can review the PDF document with your sponsoring Rotary Club, and can also use them to schedule your Rotary Club's interview where you may be given more information regarding the selection process.
As part of the application process, you will also need to provide three potential Hosting Families from your sponsoring Rotary Club's local Ohio school district(s) who complete the "Host Family Recommendation Form" using the link which is also along the left margin of this page. [Your own family may be a host family but their hosting is NOT A REQUIREMENT of you submitting an application and it WILL NOT hinder or improve your chance of being selected. If your parents submit their names as all three of the recommendations covering the entire year that you are away, they may timely submit a substitute qualified recommendation(s) at a later time.]
Some of the downloadable files may require Adobe Reader which you can download here.
Except for the signature pages, paper applications will not be accepted in this District. (Medical pages may be LEGIBLY handwritten by the doctors, but if any part of their handwriting is not clearly legible, you should find out from them what they wrote and type that information carefully onto your original online application pages and submit scanned copies of both the doctor-signed original and retyped pages together. You will not need to have the second typed set resigned by the doctor.)
