The Rotaract Passport Club of NEO's mission is to provide young professionals the opportunity to connect through service. We created this club because we know it's a challenge for our district, and many others, to retain alumni from Rotary Youth Programs and attract new young professionals to Rotary clubs given work demands, uncertain future locations, and busy schedules. Our members are past RYLA students, Interactors, Rotaractors, Rotarians and people completely new to Rotary! This club is the perfect fit for a young professional looking to make new friends and give back to the community.
The club is intentionally flexible in its format. It's a hybrid club with members across the state (and out of state) who maintain strong ties to Northeast Ohio. It's also low cost, but high impact: for $40 a year, members ages 18–31 can connect with each other twice a month, complete service projects, and learn more about Rotary.
One core element of this club is that our members attend other Rotary clubs' meetings, events, and projects, so that when they age out of our club, they already have a Rotary club in mind with established connections. We hope this club becomes a place where alumni from Rotary Youth Programs can continue their involvement with District 6630 and where young professionals can join Rotary with less barriers to their participation.
What We've Been Up To
Our club’s past projects this year include making tie blankets for Generations Living, early reader kits for Parma Local Schools, and Birthday Bags for Laura's Home. We also are participating in the United States of Kindness challenge. Currently, we're completing a cultural exchange project with a Rotaract Club in Brazil, Rotaract Pelotas Norte!
Our members could be seen at the District Conference where we had a display at the House of Friendship, dashing for dessert at the Foundation Gala,
enjoying the Baldwin Wallace Rotaract’s Silent Auction, judging at the Four Way Test Speech Contest, attending the RYLA banquet, and celebrating our district at the Banner Exchange.
In October we hosted our first community event called Pasta and Pumpkins, and we just finished selling ducks for the Strongsville Rotary Club's Kid Fest & Duck Race for the second year! We have another event being planned now so keep your eyes peeled!
