Ken Fogle, past president of the Rotary Club of Chagrin Valley, passed away peacefully last weekend, surrounded by his family.
Ken was a graduate of Kent State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and later helping to establish the university’s graduate program where he subsequently earned his Master’s in Architecture and Urban Design.
Throughout his professional career, Ken used his talents to design, build, and fund structures that served the needs of the developmentally disabled community. His work profoundly improved countless lives, and his impact within the disabled community will always be remembered.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ken’s service to Rotary was extraordinary. He became an active Rotarian after being selected to participate in a Rotary Group Study Exchange to the Southern Philippines. He went on to serve as President of the Chagrin Valley Rotary Club, Assistant Governor of District 6630, and held many other key leadership roles. Ken chaired the district’s Group Study Exchange program for ten years.
In 2002, alongside Past District Governor Jim Frame, Ken founded Gift of Life Northeast Ohio, (GoLNEO), an organization that provides lifesaving heart surgeries for children from developing countries born with congenital heart disease. Ken secured nonprofit status for the organization and served as Chair of the GoLNEO Board from 2009 to 2025. While the full impact of his passion and dedication can never be measured, the lives saved through his efforts stand as a lasting legacy.
Ken also touched our lives personally. His deep compassion and unwavering commitment to helping children were contagious. His “Service Above Self” spirit and warm personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met. The world is a better place because of Ken’s life and service.
Please join me in a special prayer for Ken, his wife Janet and all of the Fogle family during these difficult times.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm on December 20th at St. John Funeral Home, 16381 Chillicothe Rd, Chagrin Falls, OH 44022. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service starting at 1 pm.
Donations in lieu of flowers are encouraged to Gift of Life Northeast Ohio, Chagrin Valley Rotary Club, or the Modern Widows Club.
Yours in Rotary Service,
Bob Oborn
